Any purchase of goods from Onewood (THE MERCHANT) at the site www.onewood.co.uk (THE MERCHANT SITE) requires the customer to consult and accept these terms and conditions. The click validating the order implies full acceptance of these terms and represents the customer's "digital signature".
Making a Purchase
From the home page click on a product category, special offer or onto "Shop" button. You can also find products using the search box. Once in the catalogue navigate to your chosen item. By clicking on it you can see detailed information about the product. To buy a product click on the "Add To Basket" button. A new page will ask you to confirm the product, after which you can go to checkout, continue shopping or cancel. You can check and edit the contents of your shopping basket at any time by clicking the "Basket". When you have found all the items you require, click on "Checkout" to make your purchase. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the order process. Your order will not be processed until you enter your payment details in the PayPal screen and press the final submit button. On doing so, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. If you choose to pay be cheque, please print off your order and sent it together with the cheque made payable to "Onewood” to the address above. Please note that no goods will be sent off until the cheque has fully cleared, this may take some days.
Proof of Transaction
The records stored in THE MERCHANT's computer systems under reasonable safety conditions are considered proof of communications, orders and payments made between the parties.
Wood is a natural material, and because of this it will have a variety of grain patterns, colours, textures, knots, etc. even in individual pieces from the same tree. Solid wood will also move slightly when exposed to varying levels of humidity, this movement is totally natural, and cannot be regarded as a defect. Items where the photo is taken of the individual item, you will receive that item, but again, please beware there may be slight movement and colour changes in the wood for the reasons mentioned above. In particular, the oak table lamps can occasionally show new cracks as they acclimatise to the very dry atmosphere of a modern house, these cracks are extremely unlikely to cause any structural problems with the wood and cannot be regarded as a defect.
Items where a generic photo has been taken of the product, this photo should be seen as a guide to what you will receive, the wood colour, grain pattern shape, are all unique to each and every item.

Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information presented on this website. We shall not be held liable for the consequences, accidents, or special damages arising from any inaccuracy of the information presented. Product photos, descriptions and prices are non-contractual.
Our stock control system is live, but it can very occasionally happen that even though an item is shown in stock, we do not actually have it in stock. This can be caused by two people trying to buy the item at the same time, or if we sell the item off line (telephone order etc.) and the stock control is not yet updated. Should this happen, we will always contact you with the estimated delivery date and the option to amend or cancel your order.
Special Orders and Out of Stock Items
When ordering items to be made for you we will give you an approximate delivery date at the time of the order, this may vary depending on our current workload, and the availability of your chosen wood type. Please leave plenty of time if you need your order for a specific date. For larger or very unusual items we may require a deposit at the time of ordering, this will be made clear beforehand.
Smaller items that are out of stock are usually made in batches and replacement stock will be made as soon as possible. If an item is out of stock that you require, please let us know, we may be able to shift our plans to make this item before others.
Validity Period of Offer and Prices
Our offers and prices are valid for the day the site is consulted and are subject to change without notice.
Shipping and Handling
For orders shipped to a UK address the postage and packing charge is £2.95 for orders under £20.00, these orders will be sent by Royal Mail First Class Post or courier service, at our discretion.
For orders over £20.00 shipped to a UK mainland (excluding Highlands and Islands) address the postage and packing charge is £4.99, and will generally be sent on a 48 hour (longer for very large or heavy items) courier service. For delivery to Highlands and Islands, please email first with details of what you wish to order and we will email you a quote including delivery.
Delivery of larger items of furniture will usually (but not always) be made in person. This may also apply to smaller items in South Devon.
There may be additional postage and packing charges on some heavy or large items (furniture etc.). If this is the case, we will contact you with the choice to pay the additional charges or cancel the order.

We aim to dispatch orders received by 17:00 on the next working day. Should an item be out of stock we will always contact you with the estimated delivery date and the option to amend or cancel your order.
Although orders are usually delivered much faster, please allow 15 working days for Standard UK service (Royal Mail). Orders sent by carrier can be tracked.
Products are delivered to the address specified by the customer on the purchase order and only to geographic zones that we service.
All products leave our premises in perfect condition. The customer must notify the carrier (or postman) of even the slightest trace of damage (holes, signs of crushing, etc.) to the parcel, and refuse the package if necessary or at the very lease only sign for the item after having declared the packaging damaged on the drivers form. A new, identical product will then be sent to the customer at no additional charge or in the case of a one off item, you will be offered a similar item or a refund.
No exchanges can be made at a later time for goods claiming to be damaged during carriage without notification at the time of reception.
As with any shipment, a delay or loss of goods is possible. In such a case, the carrier shall start an investigation. Every effort is made, for as long as necessary, to find the package. If the package is not found, the carrier will reimburse THE MERCHANT, who will deliver a new, identical package to the customer free of charge, or in the case of a one off item, you will be offered a similar item or a refund.
We shall not be held responsible for delayed delivery times due to the carrier, including for the loss of goods, bad weather or strikes.
Loss or Damage in Transit
THE MERCHANT will not be responsible for damage or loss of goods or part thereof in transit or for any discrepancy between the goods delivered and the goods ordered unless the customer gives written or email notice of a claim to THE MERCHANT and the carrier within two (2) business days of delivery.
In the event of damage of goods or part thereof in transit or for any discrepancy between the goods delivered and the goods ordered, the customer must hold the goods and make them available for inspection or collection by THE MERCHANT or its representatives on request.
The customer must inform THE MERCHANT immediately (the same day or, at the latest, the first business day following delivery) concerning any claim of delivery error or non-conformity of goods, in kind or in quality, compared with the information on the purchase order.
Any claim made after this time period will be rejected. All claims must be made in writing or email.
Any claim that does not respect the rules defined in all of the above conditions cannot be taken into account and releases THE MERCHANT of any responsibility to the customer.
In the case of delivery error, all goods to be exchanged or refunded must be returned to THE MERCHANT in whole, in its original packaging and in perfect condition to THE MERCHANT ADDRESS.
For claims to be accepted, the customer must first make a declaration to THE MERCHANT concerning any returns and receive and THE MERCHANT's consent. If accepted, the customer will ship the package to THE MERCHANT ADDRESS.
Shipping fees shall be at THE MERCHANT's expense, except in the case where the goods do not correspond to the original declaration made by the customer concerning the return.
The provisions hereof cannot deprive the customer of their right to legal warranty requiring THE MERCHANT to protect the customer against latent defects of goods sold.
In the case of products sold on this site that are not made by Onewood, of damage to a person or property resulting from a product defect, only the product manufacturer shall be held liable and sought after by the customer.
All products sold on THE MERCHANT SITE are covered by a one (1) year warranty. All products that have been modified or repaired by the customer or any other party not chosen by THE MERCHANT are not covered by this warranty. The warranty covers the product only, and no consequential damage to other items. The warranty does not cover any damage done to items due to neglect, water damage, miss use and normal wear and tear.
If your item is not in stock, we will back order it for you. You will always be emailed with the estimated delivery date and the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.
All prices on the website include VAT at 20% (or the current UK VAT rate). Orders shipped outside the EU are exempt from VAT, and in these cases VAT will be deducted from your order manually at the time of order processing.
Credit Card and Information Security
All card payments will be handled by PayPal; we do therefore not have access to your card details. All other personal information (such as your name and address and email address) is kept in a secure environment, whether it is kept electronically or in printed form. Printed documents are kept for our records as long as required by law, after which they are either shredded, or used to heat the workshop in the fire.
Onewood will never disclose customer information to any third parties. Cookies are used on this shopping site to keep track of the contents of your shopping cart once you have selected an item. Data collected by this site is used to:
a. Take and fulfil customer orders
b. Administer and enhance the site and service
c. Only disclose information to third-parties for goods delivery purposes.
In accordance with the Distance Selling Regulations 2000, the customer has the right to a cooling off period of seven (7) business days, starting at the time goods are received, to cancel the contract and return said goods at their own expense, for any reason.
If you would like to return an item for a refund, please email firstname.lastname@example.org within 7 days of receipt of goods to obtain a returns number, which must be included with the item. We will also provide you with a returns address, which is not the address above. When returning items, please obtain proof of postage. Unless the items are faulty all returns are at the customer's expense. Only complete and unused goods in perfect condition for resale will be accepted. No refunds or exchanges will be made for incomplete or damaged goods, including damage to original packaging. In this case we will either refuse the return, in which case delivery back to the customer will be charged for, or we will make a deduction from the refund to cover refinishing of the product.
The cooling off period and right to cancel do not apply to contracts and orders for any goods made to your specification or made specifically for you.
If you change your mind about your purchase within the 7 day period we will refund the cost of the item and the original delivery cost as follows:
-If the item was part of a larger order, there will be no delivery charge refund.
-We will refund standard delivery charges only, not additional delivery charges for guaranteed special delivery.
If an exchange is requested, all shipping expenses shall be the responsibility of the customer.
Faulty items - If the item you would like to return is faulty or the item you received is incorrect, please email email@example.com and we will contact you about how to return the item. Please do NOT return any faulty items without first contacting us. The above does not affect you statutory rights.
If the right to withdrawal is exercised, THE MERCHANT will make every effort to refund the customer within 7 days of receiving the returned goods.
Right of Use
The use of any trademarks, logos or brands present on the site is strictly forbidden without prior written consent from us.
Neither party will be deemed to be in breach of any of its obligations under the agreement as a result of any delay in performing or any failure to perform any such obligations by reason of any cause or event beyond the parties' control. A force majeure event includes, but is not limited to, any unforeseeable, inevitable, or unstoppable act, event, non-happening, omission or accident beyond the control of either party, despite all reasonable efforts made to the contrary. In addition to events usually recognized by the British courts, a force majeure event includes in particular (without limitation) the following: Strike, lock-out, earthquake, fire, storm, flood, lightning, explosion, impossibility of the use of public or private telecommunications networks.
In such circumstances, the party delayed or unable to perform ("Delayed Party") shall notify the other party ("Affected Party") within ten (10) business days following the date such events become known.
Unless prevented due to force majeure, both parties will meet within three months to examine the impact of the event and agree to the conditions under which the contract shall be continued. If the force majeure lasts longer than one (1) month, this agreement may be terminated by the injured party.
These terms and conditions remain valid and in force, even if one or more clauses are invalid or declared so under any law, regulation or following the final decision of a competent court.
No failure of either party to exercise any power given to it in these terms and conditions or to insist upon strict compliance by the other party with its obligations hereunder shall constitute a waiver of either party's right to demand exact compliance with the terms hereof.
All personal data you provide us is used to process your orders. This data will be treated in accordance with the Data Protection principles outlined in the Data Protection Act 1998.
Applicable Law and Competent Jurisdiction
In form and content, these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. All orders placed on THE MERCHANT SITE strictly imply the acceptance of THE MERCHANT's terms and conditions.
In case of dispute or claim, the customer agrees to seek an amicable solution with THE MERCHANT before proceeding with any legal action. In the event where such a solution cannot be found, any disputes concerning the sale (price, Terms and Conditions, products, etc.) will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
